What better way to spend a Tuesday night than with Megadeth? The American metal band brought their raging Crush The World tour to the Grey Eagle Event Centre in Calgary, AB with Bullet For My Valentine and Oni kicking off the night.
As the lights went down, the venue was flooded with cheers and chants of “Megadeth.” Stunning visuals played across 3 screens on the stage before the band - comprised of guitarist/vocalist Dave Mustaine, bassist James LoMenzo, guitarist Kiko Loureiro, and drummer Dirk Verbeuren - took to the stage with an explosive performance of “Hangar 18.”
Megadeth played an assortment of classics such as “Angry Again” and “Sweating Bullets,” before performing a new track off their latest album, “The Sick, The Dying… and the Dead!” which was released in September 2022.
Leading into “We’ll Be Back,” frontman Dave Mustaine detailed his battle with cancer which he has since defeated. While undergoing chemo, he still dedicated time to go to the studio to make their newest record, highlighting that the fans helped motivate him.
The thrash spectacle came to a close with “Symphony of Destruction” and “Peace Sells,” which turned into a vibrant sing-a-long, before with “Holy Wars… The Punishment Due.”
It was a night of guitar solos, commanding vocals, and spirited energy. Megadeth know how to put on a show of epic proportions.
