Photos and Show Write Up by Sabrina Citta What a night! The all-Australian lineup took to the stage for their one of two Canadian stops at Toronto’s Echo Beach on September 20th, 2023. The Monsters of Oz tour featured headliner Parkway Drive with The Amity Affliction, Northlane and Make Them Suffer. We have been waiting for this Parkway show since before pandemic as they had to postpone twice for various reasons, you know what they say, third time's a charm and boy did they not disappoint. The last time they were in Toronto was 2018 and to say that the crowd was excited when they took to the stage is an understatement. This was also the first time they were bringing their FULL PYRO show to North America and what an epic show it was. The highlight of the evening was the encore for me. The stage went dark but you could begin to see Parkway’s drummer Ben Gordon being strapped into a chair on this circular rig on stage. Suddenly he began to play but it was still dark, then the lights went on and the drum solo began to get more intense. The rig started turning in a circular motion and before you know it Ben was playing upside down with fire shooting up in front of him and off the rig. It was epic and I’m so happy I got to witness that. If you ever get a chance to see Parkway live, DEFINITELY GO! With a packed house I can say these ladies put on a hell of a show. This was my first time seeing The Chicks in concert but I grew up listening to them so I wondered how many of the classic songs they would play. I could just look at a website such as setlist.fm for the list but that would just ruin the surprise aspect for me. Opening the night with the powerful new single Gaslighter, they played a great mix of new and older songs for the crowd to enjoy. A few of the newer songs played were Texas man, Tights On My Boat, and Julianna Calm Down. A few of the older songs they played were Ready To Run, Wide Open Spaces, Cowboy Take Me Away, and Not Ready To Make nice. They also played a few of their hit cover songs like Travelin' Soldier (Bruce Robinson cover) and Landslide (Fleetwood Mac cover). Ending the night they played another classic hit and well know song Goodbye Earl. Here is the setlist from The Chicks show in Edmonton.
