Photos and Concert write up by Kylee Thompson The recent "Klash of the Titans" tour stop in Edmonton on September 21, 2024, was a high-energy showcase of thrash and death metal, featuring co-headliners Testament and Kreator, along with special guests Possessed. The event took place at the River Cree Casino and delivered an intense night of metal. Testament performed a classic set, drawing heavily from their early albums like The Legacy and The New Order. Fans were treated to iconic tracks such as "Over the Wall" and "Into the Pit," highlighting their influential thrash roots. Kreator followed up with their own brand of aggressive thrash, maintaining a fierce pace throughout the night. Their set included a mix of older tracks and fan favorites, keeping the energy high. Possessed, pioneers of death metal, opened the show with their raw, old-school sound, setting the stage for the thrash metal madness that followed. Fans appreciated the diversity in the lineup, enjoying the blend of thrash and death metal throughout the event. The show was well-received, with the crowd engaged from start to finish. It was her first performance in the city since the "Bite Me" tour in May of 2022, and the night proved to be a nostalgic celebration of her iconic career, packed with fan-favourite anthems. From the moment she launched into hits like "Complicated" and "Sk8er Boi," the energy in the arena was electric. The crowd sang every lyric back to her, matching the same fiery passion that Avril has brought to stages for over two decades. The highlight of the evening came during the encore, when Avril closed the show with her 2002 hit ballad, "I'm With You." Nearly 20,000 fans lit up the Saddledome with their phones, creating a magical atmosphere. This intimate moment was the perfect way to end the night, solidifying the deep connection Avril shares with her fans. The sold-out show was a testament to Avril’s enduring influence, as fans of all ages came together to celebrate the queen of pop-punk. Thank you, Avril, for an unforgettable evening. This week we had photographer Janice Stobie-Rushton out photographing Shanneyganock for us at Century Casino in Edmonton, AB. Here are her photos! Photos and Write by JPSR Photography The CultThe 84/24 tour hit the River Cree on Sunday. From the first notes, the crowd was on its feet and stayed there the entire show. After 40 years and 11 albums, lead singer Ian Astbury’s voice has stood up well. The band played all the favourites and sounded fantastic. All the hits, Wild Flower, She Sells Sanctuary, Billy Duffy’s trademark riffs, all made for a tambourine flying night of fun. PatriarchyTwo piece Industrial snuff band out of LA Patriarchy opened the show forThe Cult Sunday at
The River Cree. Their performance was dramatic, intense and raw. The set portrayed a love/hate relationship between Actually Huizenga and Andrew Means in a provocative and unsettling performance. |
